I am a certified nurse-midwife by profession, and COVID-19 has made a huge impact on my practice. We test all women who are scheduled for induction of labor or cesarean section as well as women who are admitted for labor or antepartum/postpartum conditions. A good many of these clients test positive. Moreover, the med-surge and intensive care units in our hospital system have been challenged to find beds and staff for Covid-related admissions. (Wellspan's data can be found here: https://www.wellspan.org/covid19/covid-19-data-dashboard ). On December 18, 2020, the long-awaited COVID-19 vaccine was offered to health care providers in the Wellspan system, and I eagerly signed up to receive one of the first injections given.
